Earn a couple of PDUs while gaining some project management insight to improve your game, as well as spend some time with some pretty cool people. Dave Olson, President and Program Manager for Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC), will be joining us, sharing his experience as a veteran project manager.

Dave Olson serves as the President and Program Manager for Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC), which is conducting operations at the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, S.C. Dr. Olson leads all aspects of the SRMC team, ensuring safe delivery of its accelerated approach to waste treatment and tank closure while prioritizing proactive teaming with DOE on end states and engagement with regulators and stakeholders to ensure success. Dr. Olson has over 40 years of experience in safety, security, project management, risk management, regulatory management, operations, maintenance and engineering in nuclear materials processing and nuclear waste treatment in multiple government nuclear facility operations and projects. Most recently, Dr. Olson held the position of Executive Vice President, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Capital Projects at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) at SRS. His responsibilities included executing the conceptional design and other pre-critical decision activities for the proposed Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility project, as well as responsibility for the Tritium Finishing Facility and the Surplus Plutonium Disposition projects, the MOX Project termination activities, and the establishing the Plutonium Pit mission at SRS. Dr. Olson has previously led prime contracts for high level waste management at both SRS and the Hanford site in Washington. Prior to his return to SRNS, he held the position of Chief Nuclear Officer for Fluor Global Government Services (GGS) in Greenville, S.C., where he was responsible for oversight and support of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Environmental Management projects, which included SRNS. Dr. Olson also chaired the GGS Operations Excellence Council, which is responsible for lessons learned and benchmarking across all nuclear GGS projects to facilitate best practice sharing in safety, conduct of operations and project management. Dr. Olson is a certified Project Management Professional through the Project Management Institute. He received the 2004 DOE Secretary’s Excellence in Acquisition Award and was also awarded the 2008 Executive of the Year by the Savannah River Chapter of the National Management Association. He has an active outreach program for high school and college students to help them prepare for the professional working world. His talks focus on work ethics and career/life choices.
